Not all towels manufactured in Imabari are designated as ""Imabari Towel Brand Products."" Only those that meet a variety of unique quality standards can bear this name.
One well-known standard is the ""5-Second Rule,"" which ensures the towels' signature absorbency. This test involves floating a towel piece in water to see if it begins to sink within five seconds; towels that do not absorb water will remain buoyant.
In addition to absorbency, other criteria are rigorously tested, including hair loss rates, durability, and the colourfastness against fading or abrasion. Only towels that meet these stringent quality standards can proudly claim the ""Imabari Towel Brand Product"" title.
