Introducing Nuno Chiyo Tenugui, straight from Osaka

Manufactured by a specialist store for various textile products, including han-ten and tenugui, committed to all domestic production and sales since its establishment in 1976.

The origins of the tenugui can be traced back to the Nara period, where it was said to be used as an ornament during festivals. In the Edo period, with the flourishing cultivation of cotton, tenugui emerged from the leftover fabric used in making cotton kimono. Even today, it remains an essential item in daily life, making the tenugui a familiar and cherished object for the Japanese people.
