Café-style short aprons, rare style in Homaekake apron
This cute café apron is a traditional Japanese apron with a history of over 500 years and has long been used as workwear by people who work.
It is made in Japan using fabric woven for homaekake in the Mikawa cotton production area and manufactured in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture.
From around the Meiji era (1868-1912), Homaekake was dyed with the name of the shop and began to serve not only as a uniform, but also as an advertisement.
They are rare because the number of weaving mills producing the fabric is decreasing, and the thread standards vary from mill to mill, and they are filled with lots of techniques and history that have been developed by individual craftsmen over the years.

Functionality and convenience of Homaekake café aprons, not just its looks.
1. Stain and injury prevention.
As well as preventing injury from splinters of wood and glass, the fabric is woven thick and strong to prevent staining.
It is also resistant to heat and is therefore sometimes worn by craftspeople who work with fire, such as in pottery and glass studios.
2. Protecting the lower back
For jobs that often involve carrying heavy loads and are prone to back pain, tightening the sail front cover around the pelvic area can act as a supporter.
It stabilises the body's axis and reduces the strain on the lower back when carrying heavy loads.
3. For shop advertising
If you put your shop name or logo on the front, it can be a good advertisement when serving customers or making deliveries at your shop, and you can also create a sense of unity in your shop by having all your staff wearing them.
Nagomi&Co's sailcloths can be personalised with your original logo, so please use the enquiry form to place your order.
